Getting pregnant is not a given for everyone.
Around 1 in 6 couples experience reduced fertility, meaning that pregnancy does not occur despite a year of unprotected intercourse.
Under normal circumstances, the chance of a natural pregnancy per menstrual cycle is 20 to 25%. Within six months, around half of young, fertile couples are pregnant, and after a year this rises to 85%.
If pregnancy does not occur, the first step is to investigate the cause and the chances of a successful pregnancy. In heterosexual couples, reduced fertility may lie with the man, the woman or a combination of both. That is why we regard both the man and the woman as patients.
Our aim is to look into the cause together with you and, if necessary, start a suitable treatment. Discover the treatment options for heterosexual couples below.
Choosing the right treatment can be difficult.
